My cat threw up on my film holders !!!

So yesterday I drove 275 miles round trip to photograph the dead town of Yeso NM. I came home and put my exposed film holders on my dining room table.

Now my cool little black cat named Jack, has a habit of over eating and throwing up around the house. He normally throws up on the hardwood floor and this is the first time on the table. Now he is too cute to really do anything about except giving him an evil look and a stern talking too.

But I just came out of the darkroom to get this batch of holders and found a pile of vomit on the corners of one the holders.

This will be fun.

Landscapes and 4x5

Two things I really love.

I am really enjoying using my Zone VI 4x5 camera. It's hard to explain but slowing down and making just a few exposures a day is really nice.

96 hours - 1935 miles

I've been home now about 24 hours and I am still exhausted. I slept until noon today.

Todd, Sam, Josh and I packed the up the Honda on Monday evening and hit the road around 6:30pm. It rained from the time we hit 9 mile hill in Albuquerque, all the way to Flagstaff. It was awful.

The first night we stayed in Seligman AZ. We pulled off of I-40 around 11:30pm or so and drove about 15 miles south of the highway on a dirt road. We set up camp in the dark, not sure of where we were. The coyotes started yelping almost immediately.

Just as a deep sleep was setting in, Todd starting talking in his sleep, saying something like "i've got it" in a very mean voice. Like he was yelling at his wife about taking the garbage out or answering the phone.

Then, a short time later, Sam started screaming "hey hey hey hey hey". It scared the crap out of me and when I asked if he was okay, he said he was fine.

We woke around 5am. Coming out of the tent was a pleasant experience as we found ourselves in a nice open area and the sunlight was amazing.

Once the car was packed, Sam let us know that he has night terrors sometimes. Well, thanks a lot Sam.

We stopped in Seligman for breakfast. The restaurant was nicely decorated and the food delicious. Each of the guys proceeded to test the plumbing as they worked out some bodily issues. The menu spawned an ongoing joke of a so-called "Seligman Diet". More on this later.

The next stop was Kingman for some supplies. What a crazy fucking place. But gas was cheap at about $2.85 a gallon. We continued on to Yucca to photograph the abandoned cafe and motel. A very photogenic area.

After Yucca, we made it to Needles CA where we all, especially Sam, proceeded to flirt with an elderly woman who was working in the Walgreens we stopped at for water. It was rather amusing.

(There is so much to write about this but I just can't do it...)

Sunday Monday

I am about to leave for the Salton Sea. It's now raining here in ABQ. Should be a fun drive.

Yesterday, Amelia and I hosted another BBQ here at the house. The usual crowd came along with a few other new folks including Jim Stone and his family. It was really nice to see him and to finally meet his wife and kids. He is truly a kind man.

We all had fun and ate well.

Then we watched the Sopranos finale. Wow! What an ending.

Time to go.
